SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento semi truck driver is facing DUI charges after he allegedly drove with a blood alcohol percentage four times the legal limit on Friday morning. The truck driver was reportedly making a delivery to Safeway.

CHP officials said a sergeant noticed a black tractor-trailer blocking the #2 lane on Stockton Boulevard around 12:45 a.m. As the sergeant approached the stopped vehicle, the driver pulled off.

The sergeant gave chase and caught up with the vehicle in a parking lot south of 65th street. The driver allegedly tried to drop a bag of beer bottles out of the passenger side of his vehicle.

As the truck was stopped, more officers responded to the scene and determined the driver had a BAC % four times over the legal limit, .04% for commercial drivers and .08% for non-commercial.

The tractor-trailer was towed and the driver was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on DUI charges.
